Yelp Cleveland Gets Crafty at Monica Potter Home

This January, Yelp Elites adventured to Monica Potter Home in Garrettsville for a crafty night of creating custom wooden signs in collaboration with Simply Signed, a women-owned business specializing in paint party experiences. Created by Golden Globe nominated actress Monica Potter and inspired by her Cleveland roots, Monica Potter Home specializes in natural skincare, home decor, home fragrance, jewelry and handmade goods created by local artisans.
Upon arrival, Yelp Elites stepped into the warm and cozy country store, only to be delighted by the aroma of fresh-brewed signature Monica Potter Home coffee and teas. Elites browsed the various goods before settling down at the crafting tables. An introduction to Monica Potter Home and its mission was presented by Jessica, Monica Potter’s sister. To start the event, Elites chose one of three stains to base their wooden sign with. White, onyx, and a rustic-looking farmhouse were the gorgeous choices. Following the stain drying, Elites placed a stencil in the shape of Ohio’s outline with the words ‘home’ written in calligraphy. To paint over the stencil, Elites chose from 30 paint colors for a unique custom piece.

As Yelp Elite Marissa M. said, “The girls teaching us were so sweet and were very helpful with answering questions and assisting us with the sign making… Everyone’s sign turned out so great! It was so fun seeing all the different color combinations! The whole sign making process was fun, simple and pretty foolproof!” As the night came to a close and the signs were given their finishing touches, Elites shopped in the store and browsed the selection of skincare products, glassware, and rustic decor.
As the cherry on top of this wonderful evening, Monica Potter made a special appearance. As Yelp Elite Eve L. explained, “Lastly, we all had the experience to ‘meet’ Monica via FaceTime. She’s such a down to earth, lovely, and good-natured person. I couldn’t believe that she took the time to meet us all and check out our work! We really enjoyed ourselves last night and are definitely looking forward to going back!”

With the support of being co-run by family and friends of Monica Potter, the store’s humble beginnings started four years ago at the IX Center’s Great Big Home and Garden Show with a rose scented candle. Unsurprisingly, it did not take long for the brand to take off and a physical location to blossom. All products are cruelty-free and sourced only in the United States. The store also offers wholesale consignment for local items that fit well with the store’s theme.

In the future, Monica Potter Home has the vision of moving to downtown Cleveland to repurpose an old building. With a major goal to bring jobs to the local area, Monica Potter hopes to sell and manufacture the signature products exclusively in the place she loves to call home. Yelp Elite Amanda M. summed up the fantastic experience by explaining, “The venue was beautiful, the decor was simply perfect. Very warm, relaxed, full of character and charm… I am over the moon with all of the products they have to offer… Definitely a great experience all around.”
On a monthly basis, Monica Potter Home hosts creative make-and-take workshops for attendees to have an exclusive private crafting and shopping experience.
