‘Tis the season for giving, and while there’s still over a month to go in 2018, we thought Giving Tuesday was as good a time as any to reflect back at all of the giving we’ve done as a community team this year so far. With beneficiaries receiving donations including toys, books, food, clothing, and cash, Yelpers have come together to make a difference for non-profit organizations across North America!
By the numbers:
More specifically, we’ve raised over $130,000, collected over 500 cans of food, donated over 1000 meals, cleaned up over 200 pounds of trash, donated over 600 pounds of clothing and personal care items, 300+ books and school supplies, 200 pet supplies, and given more than 500 hours to help all kinds of deserving organizations.
We’re grateful to all of those Yelpers and business owners that have participated in our events and fundraisers this year and for all of the incredible connections we’ve made. Every little bit counts and we are making a difference. Thank you to the hundreds of venues that have hosted our communities as well — from the Jacksonville Public Library and the Brampton Library to San Diego’s Flower Fields and the International Institute of Buffalo to the Belle Isle Boat House in Detroit — we’ve had some remarkable hosts and partners across North America!
This year has not been an easy one. We’ve seen natural disasters and horrific tragedies all around us, but the power of community is strong and we’re proud! The Yelp Community team looks forward to making more memories and giving back for years to come! We’d love to hear your community giving stories… share the local love on social and tag Yelp!
