What’s the best way to kick off a summer holiday week? With a Summer Sneak Peek at Outback Steakhouse, of course! Elites and their guests headed to Madison’s Outback East location on Monday, July 2nd, 2018 to get a sneak peek at their new summer menu items that debuted on July 4th.
Guests were greeted at the door by managing partner Don Heinz and welcomed with a Homefront Hero Cocktail. The cocktail was a blend of lemonade, watermelon puree, and blackberry moonshine. To accompany their drink, guests got to snack on the new prime rib-stuffed Steakhouse Quesadilla. While mingling, everyone had a chance to preview their upcoming meal on a central table display and scope out the gift basket that would be awarded at the end of the night for the best picture. The basket had everything for a perfect night including wine, cheese, and a movie theater gift card.
Once everyone took their seats, Outback’s signature Bloomin’ Onions arrived to the tables for sharing. The crispy coating had a delicious beef flavor that paired well with the spicy dipping sauce. Watermelon ‘Ritas accompanied this course and provided a light counterpoint.
Next up was the highlight for many folks – the Creamy Shrimp Scampi Dip. Served in a mini cast iron skillet, the dip was creamy, cheesy, and full of shrimp. On the lighter side was the wood-fire-grilled shrimp that helped make up the main course and had three sauce options for dipping: Signature BBQ, Sweet & Tangy, or Roasted Garlic Butter.
The garlic butter paired well with the creamy mashed potatoes that were served with the center-cut sirloin that was the flip side of the Steak and Shrimp combo. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium and had a tasty, peppery glaze. The specially-brewed Bloomin’ Blonde Ale was a great match for the steak and had enough of a profile to cut through the bold flavors of the food without overwhelming the palate.
Though everyone was stuffed to the brim, they still managed to make room for the final course, a slice of New York-Style Cheesecake that was topped with a thick chocolate sauce. The amazing waitstaff were kind enough to make boxes available for those who couldn’t finish, anticipating the needs of the attendees as they had all evening.
While the dinner guests took a minute to settle following their meal, the Outback East staff pored over all the delicious photos from the evening and picked their favorite; a glamor shot of the grilled shrimp and a giant can of Foster’s. Andrew R. took home the gift basket, and everyone who attended went home with a handwritten thank you card from the staff and a gift certificate toward their next visit to Outback.
