Last year the Yelp Foundation held a contest called Yelp Foundation Gives Local, which allowed people in communities across America to vote to help the Foundation determine which local nonprofits would receive grants of up to $5,000. More than 160,000 votes were cast in the contest, and 225 non-profits received grants as a result of the votes.
I’m excited to let you know the Yelp Foundation will hold this contest again and be giving grants of $2,000 to $5,000 to nonprofits. Nonprofits can nominate themselves to participate in this contest between now and August 31. Check out the 2016 Yelp Foundation Gives Local website for details at yfgiveslocal.org.
The nomination form should take less than 30 minutes to complete and the grants are for general support of a nonprofit’s charitable activities. Every nonprofit chosen as a finalist will win a grant of $2,000 or more.
Nonprofits must nominate themselves here to be considered for a spot in the voting contest. Contest rules require that a nonprofit:
- Aligns with the Foundation’s mission of supporting charitable organizations and activities addressing the needs of local communities, including access to information, education, local economic development, and freedom of expression.
- Is an operating 501(c)(3)
- Is located in one of the communities on this list
Do you know a nonprofit that you would like to see nominated? Please tell them about this awesome grant opportunity.
Nonprofits, nominate your organization and read the full contest rules and FAQ at yfgiveslocal.org. Nominations will be accepted from August 1 – August 31, 2016.
