Portland’s wharfs were home to both the first oyster house and Chinese restaurant in the city, as well as potentially the origin of stuffed, baked lobster thanks to Alexander Boone. It only made sense then to get the Elite Squad crew of the U.S.S. Yelp Maine together to celebrate some of that longstanding culinary history at Boone’s Fish House & Oyster Room.
We looked mesmerizing in our maritime blue and white stripes (and sailor hats) as we chewed the fat, indulged in salt water taffy, and wrote “Compliments in a Bottle” to one another. All the buoys and gulls in attendance got to try two different delicious cocktails – the Fish House Punch and the Lavendar Lemonade – as well as some samples of oysters, oyster meatballs, shrimp, and just-in-season fiddlehead spring rolls.
