Yelp Rochester’s Holiday In The Big Easy

Rochester hosted its first Elite-only event to honor the amazing yelpers who are the foundation of our local Yelp community. The ROC Elites mixed and mingled with their Yelp-y BFFs and celebrated the holiday season as 2013 came to a close. As Janice A shared, “having to leave our plus ones at home spurred us to converse with each other more than usual, allowing for the small connections we've made this last year to better develop.” Atlas Eats Collage2

Atlas Eats served up a tasting menu for a grazing dinner for the Elites, inspired by the best of New Orleans. The menu included seared scallops with a spicy remoulade, crab cakes, chicken and sausage jambalaya, shrimp and grits, cajun roast chicken, and pain perdu with French market coffee ice cream. Martin Scott Wines provided copious amounts of wine for sipping.

As Christopher B put it: “To call the presentation by Atlas Eats a tasting does it a disservice. This really was a great tour of Gulf Coast tastes, and what else would one expect from AE as they highlighted their skills usually on display in their ‘Edible Atlas’ dinners.”

But perhaps the greatest thrill of the evening was the white elephant gift exchange. According to Naz B it “was the most fun and cutthroat gift swap she has ever participated in.” Everyone walked away from the evening with full bellies and a couple extra gifts in hand, including the coveted Yelp Elite socks!

It brings a smile to my face thinking about how many friendships have blossomed over these last several months. 'Tis a cliché, but time sure does fly when you're having fun.

Thanks a million to Gerry, Diane, Nadia, and all of the Atlas Eats staff for a beautiful evening and the perfect way to close 2013 for the Rochester Elites.

Happy new year to all and See You On Yelp!
