There's no party like a Memphis party…especially when Memphians are supporting non-profits! This Volunteer loving city (see what I did there? Go Vols!) came together for the kickoff celebration of Yelp Helps Memphis, Memphis Yelp's first Yelper party, at Minglewood Hall! 156 do-gooder Yelpers attended the night of non-profit matchmaking and donated $713 to the non-profits involved!
This maiden Yelp Helps featured 12 non-profits that set-up interactive booths to provide Memphians with information about their causes and volunteer opportunities. There was something for everyone as people mingled amongst the plethora of non-profits – everything from animals to kids to sustainability! Barret R summed it up perfectly with, "I love when booze, food, and charities come together – good times!" Definitely a winning combo.
Non-profits present were Ronald McDonald House, Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County, Literacy Mid-South, Alzheimer's Association, Indie Memphis Film Festival, Special Olympics, MidSouth Pride, Urban Equestrain Foundation, FORCE, Shelby Farms Park Conservancy, Salvation Army and Be Free Revolution.
And, of course, Memphis's finest restaurants were in attendance to liven up the party with free food and drinks! Wine Market, the official alcohol sponsor, kept the wine and cocktails flowing while Charlie Vergos' Rendezvous, South of Beale, Lunchbox Eats, East Tapas & Drink, Table 613, and Ink Bar Lounge Restaurant were there with delectable bites!
Lauren Edalgo Makeup and Hair was on center stage doing hair and makeup to make sure all of the ladies were feeling particularly glamorous! There was quite the line to get dolled up!
On the way out the door, lucky Elites scooped up baller VIP gift bags! Inside were goodies from Mozelle Boutique, Three Dog Bakery, YoGo-N-Sweets, The Blow Out, Java Cabana, Whimsy Cookie Co, Lauren Edalgo Hair & Makeup Artist, Republic Coffee, Baer's Den, Diamond Brokers of Memphis, Semi Sweet Confections and Elizabeth Looney Photography!
But even after everyone went home after the party, Yelpers were still showing their support for their community in the following weeks! First up was a supply drive for the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County. Then for a finale, Yelpers served dinner at the Ronald McDonald House and threw a NFL kickoff party! A huge thanks to The Green Beetle, Blind Bear, and Memphis Pizza Cafe for donating their delicious food!
So Yelp Helps Memphis has come to an end for this year! A special thank you to all of the non-profits who participated and the Yelpers who volunteered!
