Hospitality and sustainability were the name of the game at Yelp’s
Green Party. Elites gathered at The Revelry to indulge
in the Southern charm of one of Rochester’s newest additions to the restaurant
scene and got the skinny on Greentopia.
Boasting a coveted spot in an up-and-coming nook of University
Ave, The Revelry morphed the space, built in the 1800s, into a hauntingly
beautiful restaurant fueled by influences of the South Carolina-bred owner,
Helpings of hors d’oeuvres for nibbling were brought out in
flights. Honoring the Lowcountry of the South, the menu featured bite-size crostinis
with boiled peanut hummus, pimento cheese fritters, carrot soup shooters, and crab-topped
fried green tomatoes. An unlikely favorite of the evening was the carrot soup. Hope
C said she’d return “just for a bowl of that amazing silky texture and faux-bacon flavor –truly gastronomical!”
“Cocktails were on point, as always,” notes Arvid Y, which
includes The Green Fairy – a concoction of absinthe, lemon, and sparking wine –
the featured cocktail of the evening was nothing short of whimsical. The liquid
courage lured the guests to SnapPodNY’s pop-up
photobooth. Nabbing a few wacky hats and moustaches, the Elites brought their
smiles and took home a printout to remember the night.
What’s more, the yelpers were green with envy awaiting all the
exciting things coming to this year’s weeklong Greentopia festivities.
For many, this was the first time they learned of the event, which expanded
this year to include sustainably-minded events like the Futures
A is “sure to add Greentopia to her September calendar!”
Many thanks, as always, to Lauren McLaughlin photography,
Greg at SnapPodNY, Jenna and Josh, and all of The Revelry staff, along with Greentopia
for co-hosting the event!
