Yelp Miami’s Sunday Funday

The Bangles had the right idea when they cooed that manic
Monday’s are the worst. Who has time for all that? But while Susanna
and the crew were just wishing it was Sunday, the Yelp Miami Elite Squad were
making their island food/dreams come true with a Social Sunday Funday hosted by
City Center hotspot, The Social Club. This was better than kissing Valentino,

It starts with food, right? You can’t have a Funday without
goodies on which to nosh, areweright? As yelpers lounged on bright, mod
furniture and struck poses under stellar light fixtures, island-inspired fare
filled the room and all the bellies. Chef Doug helped the crowd to herb-marinated olives; crisp pork rinds; Bahamian conch tacos with scotch
bonnet and avocado
; Slow-braised octopus carpaccio with tangerine and pomegranate;
Jerk chicken skewers
with housemade dipping sauce; Key West rock bass ceviche with charred tomato;
and Seared Ahi Tuna
with corn custard and smoked jalapeno jam
. These bites were the
perfect way to nom in the afternoon.

But as fab as food is, a Funday’s not a Funday without some
choice libations. Making sure to get everyone in the mood to be social, Capurro Pisco was the spirit of the day. Bar
chef Chad Phillips wowed the crowd with the Pisco Punch and the Out of Step. These
signature drinks reinforced the craft cocktail reputation the bar enjoys. No
worries if pisco wasn't your thing: Duvel
beer kept guests day drinking and enjoying the moment.

Eating. Lounging. Drinking. What else? Oh yes. Music! Dexter Brown of Pan Paradise got guests in a tropical state of mind with steel drum version
of pop classics. This was the final touch to creating the festive mood. Need
proof? We’ve got it. Expert photographer Janu Mendel snapped all the
shots you can see here. Relaxed Elites left their impressions here. So, the
next time someone tells you in a bedroom voice to make some noise, you’ll know
where to take ‘em. Sunday Fundays always cure the manic Monday blues.

Blamin’ the train,
