Tis the season to be tacky! Over 60 elites dusted off their tackiest of tacky holiday gear for an evening at the new Ivy Tech Culinary School facility and restaurant, Courses. With the push of a button, yelpers were able to check in on their Yelp
app to collect an ornament to be tackily decorated later in the evening. Yelpers were greeted at the door with sparkling wine, a beautiful Yelp ice sculpture and tapas like Mojito Lamb, Duck
Prosciutto, Squash and Chestnut Soup and Smoked Salmon with Orange and
Traminette glaze! The hospitable Ivy Tech staff led groups of 20 – 25 elites on a tour of the new building.
The tour led Yelpers from classroom to classroom with dishes and drinks that coordinated with the classroom's subject. Yelpers learned more about the classes while nibbling on evening favorites like smoked lamb, sushi and seafood terrine. In the words of Raechel H, "I had a blast learning something new and making culinary discoveries!" Erin E, THE Mama behind Hoosier Momma bloody Mary and margarita mixes, poured tasty cocktails mixed with Heartland Distillery's
Sorgrhum rum and lemongrass vodka. Mmmm! The 45 minute tour/grazing party ended in the penthouse restaurant, Courses, overlooking the twinkling lights of downtown. The feeding frenzy continued with three tables of tapas. But the fun didn't stop there! Nosiree. Dessert consisted of more than ten different types of mini sweets including lemon meringue pie shots, macaroons, bread pudding and truffles.
A huge thank you to the staff and students of Ivy Tech Culinary School, Solar Flare Photography and Hoosier Momma for making this an evening to remember! In the words of Wendy S, "This is why being a Yelp elite is the bombdiggity – events like this one."
