On Thursday night, Yelpers dropped into the August Wilson Center for Yelp Kicks It Old Skool, the Burgh's very first Yelper Party! About 200 guests busted out their old skool 90's gear for a most tubular time! They ate great local bites, drank local bevvies, watched some breakers get down, played dope games and posed in a totally tubular photobooth all in one bumpin' night…
Many savory and sweet booths had Aja J in a tizzy: "Pulled pork, brisket and smoked tofu from YinzBurgh BBQ; Dogs w/special
slaw courtesy of Franktuary; a BILLION different types of the best
hummus you've ever had from The Greek Gourmet (mad '90s props for the
Honey Habenero especially); and gourmet pastries from a
straight-off-the-boat Frenchman otherwise known as the proprietor of La
Barry R was "introduced to alot of businesses that I'd been meaning to try, and was very impressed. Extra credit to Dozen Bake Shop who made bright neon colored cupcakes to go with the 90's
themed party," and Engine House Winery who even made a special Yelp Kicks It Old Skool bottle to compliment the Zinfandal, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay sips they were servin' up! "Pete from Penn Brewery was very
informative," and Lucretiz C "was charmed by the presentation. He took the time to
let us sample all the different beers and provided a brief ingredients
list of each of the beers we had. Amanda W thought the "Smells Like Teen Spirit" Clique Vodka punch "was phat, a pour large enough to be a Yo Mamma joke." No kidding!
Vitamin Water and Barre, a real food bar developed by two local dancers, provided energy for everyone to get down on the dance floor. Speaking of which, "DJ Nugget played just about every 90's song you could think of and had
people dancing for hours," exclaimed Tim W. "Some Yelpers even made a train and danced
through the venue to "Come on Ride the Train!" Lucky for Lydia M, who "danced off some calories to many 90s classics, I had no idea I still knew
the words to the songs!" The crowning moment for Ada T was when the Get Down Gang performed: "I haven't seen breakdancing in a while
and it was amazing! They busted out the skillz and had everyone
jamming! I must have taken 5-7 videos just so I can watch it again
A big thank you to the August Wilson Center, Event Coordinator Adrianne Holmes and the amazing staff for
