Yelp Dallas Had A Whole Lot Of Summer Lovin’

In case you wondering where everyone was last Thursday night – they were all getting their Grease Lightning on at Yelp Dallas's Summer Lovin' Yelper Event. The event rang in a sock-hopping, hand-jiving, 50's lovin' good time for over 600 Dallas enthusiastic Yelpers, dressed in the their Sandy and Danny finest, attended for the biggest bash Yelp Dallas has ever seen. In short, Yelp Was The Word

Guests were first greeted by the only and all-female Valet group in North Texas – oh so appropriately named: Pinky's Valet. Their "very professional and efficient at the Valet service" ensured us all that our rides were in good shape. After all, we can't show with our date at the drive-in without a smooth set of wheels!

As the line of enthusiastic Yelpers and their guests zipped by, Marc Events was popping inside. Upon entering, guests where amazed by the spacious and elegeant venue that so graciously hosted the biggest bash of the summer. Set amongst the high-end showrooms, antique stores, and art galleries of the Design District, many people were excited to realize this chich spot existed, and as Janice L puts it: "a perfect place for a party"

With over 15 beer suppliers on board, 5 local restaurants, an Oxygen Bar, live art from local non-profit ArtLoveMagic, alcoholic winesicles, Deep Eddy Vodka, Bombay Sapphire GIn, and a handcrafted balloon drop this shindig put Rydell High's Spring Fling to shame. The soiree recruited some much deserved recognition and funds for non-profit partners, ArtLoveMagic and Muscular Dystrophy Association. As well as introduced the world of Yelp to a hefty batch of newbies.  Fun2Collage

"Hands down one of the best Yelp events I have gone to" could definitely qualify as a description of event. Everywhere you turned there was excitement filling the room. From the get go, guests were lured into the temptation of Deep Eddy Vodka's cocktails, Vintage Point's bold-bodied Hidden Ridge Cabernet Sauvignon, and the energy-boosting Avalon O2 Oxygen Bar.

Once everyone contributed their $10 suggested donation to our wonderful Non-Profit Sponsor, the Muscular Dystrophy Association and took in some impressive live art demonstrations by our other Non-Profit Sponsor, ArtLoveMagic – they were easily promoted to grab a goofy pic with friends at the Green Screen photo booth courtesy of the highly-rated Rainbow Entertainment.

PictureCollageIt's not a Rydell High School Spring Fling wihtout a little spiked punch! Good thing SocialIce was on board to keep our popsicles spiked with wine and flavors from the likes of Sangria and Mimosa. Better believe Bombay Sapphire Gin was stirring up some trouble as their "easy on the eye" servers taught us all how to craft the perfect gin cocktail.

"The rocking roster of brews "weren't in short supply with more beers then my neighborhood corner store," says LaRaina W. Indeed, beer was in abundance as Yelpers were able to enjoy every craft beer under the brewtiful rainbow. According Ted W "The beer selection was sublime with many non-standard varieties and labels." With Magic Hat, Pyramid, Imperial, Widmer Rotator, Redhook, Dale's Pale Ale, Mama's Lil' Yellow Pils, Old Chub, Franconia, Julius Echter, Kronenbourg, Carlsberg, Steinlager, Chimay, Schneider Edelweisse, Affligem, Weihenstephan, Fireman's #4, Lost Gold IPA, Devil's Backbone, Han's Pils, Blanche De Chambly, Trois Pistoles, Ephemere Apple, Hofbrau Hefeweizen, San Miguel Light, Xingu Black Beer, Brooklyn Brewery,Hobgoblin Ale, Woodchuck Amber, Woodchuck Summer Cider, Duvel, Maredsous Blonde, Ommegang Witte, and DeKonick were all in attendance. Angelica N "enjoyed walking around with my Yelp buds, tasting beers left and right and making new discoveries." And no, we aren't all lushes, Sweet Leaf Tea was present and well appreciated by all the parched party-goers! For the sophistacates of the group – Chateau Diana was serving up sensational Pinot Grigio and Cabernet Sauvignon, too!  DrinksCollage2

DrinkCollageThirsts weren't the only thing quenched, but our appetites were more than satisfied, as well. Local restaurants that were hopelessly devoted to showed us their stuff with delectable Pork Tacos courtesy of Prime Bar, Townhouse Kitchen and Bar's Shrimp and Grits, and Out-Of-This World Deviled Eggs provided by the highly anticipated Park Tavern. According to Dan R, A Rydell High class favorite had to have been Mooyah Burgers – "they were great as always; and the demand was so intense they could barely set the tray down before all the burgers were snatched up." Just like Danny Zuko – they are the one that we want! But The Belle of the Ball goes to The Cake Ball Company and their "outstandingly decadent" desserts.

Dancing was in order after we noshed, drank, chatted, flirted with bartenders, drank, noshed, took more pics, hit the oxygen bar one more time, had one last winesicle, drank, drank, oh yeah – and drank. Astounding Sounds had us set with tunes hailing from the 50's to get us in the Summer Lovin' mood. After things got busy and the balloons dropped – the dance floor was buzzing with Danny, Sandy, Rizzo, James Dean, and June Cleaver look alikes. Every guest definitely receives an A+ for costume effort, but only the few and fabulous walked home with a gift certificate to The Capital Grille for best costume. Whether you were a poodle-skirt donning gal or a leather jacket clad guy – every costume was much appreciated as it added the essential sock-hopping sensation to the mood. Though we can only channel the days of Grease through events such as these – there's no doubt that Yelp's Summer Lovin' had us a blast! DancefloorCollage
