Yelp Cincinnati Goes Green At Mainstay Rock Bar

It was time for Cincinnati to put its trivial knowledge to good use.

Yelp Cincinnati teamed up with Hamilton County Department of Environmental Services to promote recycling at local bars and restaurants. Together, we went to Mainstay Rock Bar, an amazing location that already thinks green, for a night of food, drinks and fun with Yelp’s Recycled Elite Trivia Event!

Yelpers took over their second floor of Mainstay’s event space, The Betty Bar, a giant pin-up girl themed room. “The venue was great with pin up girls painted on the walls, chic color combinations, modern style, and beautiful giant windows to the outside. Mainstay downstairs looked pretty cool as well – I'm glad to have been introduced to this venue,” Christine M declared.

Throughout the night, Mainstay provided a fantastic selection of almost anything from their bar and food from their kitchen, including delicious pesto sandwiches and amazing homemade salsa and chips.

The ladies from HamCo Recycling set up a booth to give away fun schwag (like coasters and stickers) and talk more about how people and restaurants can get involved. And, since it was a rock bar, The Owens Group came with a photo booth from the new movie Rock of Ages and gave away t-shirts, buttons, posters and more!

The night really began to rock when yelpers got into teams of no more than six and played epic trivia. Using Mainstay’s giant screen and microphone, Alex projected questions and go to do fun things like “Name What’s Missing From This Movie Scene” or “Who Is This Rocker Turned Into An Adorable Cartoon.”

“The trivia questions were hard enough and interesting, making it a good challenge. We sure have some intelligent Yelpers around here,” Ann L declared. “I still can't believe there are 18 animals in a box of animal crackers!”

Winners were given prizes like a Recycling schwag bag, tickets to The Cincinnati Roller Girls and a private tour of The Contemporary Art Center’s new exhibit on music videos, Specticle.

Another great Elite event from the evil, err I mean, awesome mind of Alex. Lots of room, good food to try and great beer available (always a plus in my book). Saw lots of Yelp friends and made some new ones,” sang Carla G.

All in all, a badass night. But don’t just take our word on it, you can read all the reviews right here. You can also check out the other awesome pics by photographer extraordinaire Anamedia on the Official Yelp Flickr page.

Till next round,
