Yelp Cincy’s Underground Art Scene at The American Can

ArtScene

This way. No no, over here. Yeah, through that door…

Welcome to Yelp’s Underground Art Scene!

About 100 Elites made their way into The American Can Lofts; a giant former canning factory turned beautiful Northside apartments. The building’s epic work bays are perfect for an underground party, especially when filled with fantastic art.

Art RealParProjects, an organization that curates amazing art locally, filled the bays with beautiful sculptures and pieces (Women made of rock! Robots on the walls!) as well as a series of interactive exhibits in shipping crates out on the front area of the building. This made it our largest Yelp event ever (at least by size.)

As Suz M said, "We had a fab time checking out the art installation, enjoying the music, wandering aimlessly, trying out the food, and getting some Yelp swag.”

ArtOutside, guests were able to go nuts with a spray paint wall thanks to Higher Level Art. “This was a cool, more intimate event. The art that was on display was unique and fun and, hell-o, they let us spray paint a shipping container!” Patricia L exclaimed.

SpraypaintAll this creativity works up an appetite, and we had them covered. Sliders were being served out by Café de Wheels, Cincinnati’s only burger food truck, and sweet treats came from Sweet Peace Bakery, an amazing vegan treat maker, and Take the Cake, a great restaurant right across the stress. There was also excellent beer from Christian Moerlein to wash it all down.

Throughout the night, people rocked out to DJ SImo from NXTLVL Artists and got their caricature done by the amazing Mike Altman. There was also a raffle featuring former pieces of machines from The American Can and tickets to The Emery Revival, an upcoming show featuring Over the Rhine, given away by The Requiem Project, who are opening the theatre and also one of the night’s sponsors.

EntertainmentA wild night in a wild part of Cincinnati. But don’t just take our word on the night’s awesomeness, you can read all the reviews right here. You can also check out the other awesome pics by photographer extraordinaire Anna Penny on the Official Yelp Flickr page!

Until next time,
