The Saturday morning alarm clock never rang so sweetly as it did this past weekend when a dozen Halifax Elites made their way to market, to market for the One-Two Brunch Elite Event!
Our reward? A wonderful chat with owner Jennie Dobbs who was happy to hand out insider info on what we can expect from their kitchen in the new year, not to mention incredible snacks like "salt caramel tarts, pork rilettes, and spritzers" to get the day off to a delicious start.
After making countless other market-goers jealous, we lived out a Saturday morning tradition en masse, walk-of-shaming our way to the permanent home of Morris East's fantastic feasts! And, of course, we were not disappointed.
Their in-house mixologist had already whipped up a batch of Asian Pear Fizz cocktails, a twisted pear mimosa made with "local pear cardamom cordial and madagascar vanilla cognac" before being topped off with Prosecco. Asheley R is bang-on when she calls the concoction "simply scrumptious," on the one hand, and "rather dangerous" on the other.
The Big Breakfast Pizza that had Lesley-Anne S "totally intrigued" was everything you could want and more: tomato, mozzarella, spinach, portobello, house-made bacon, greens and a fried egg, earning only the highest of internet praise: "it tasted amazeballs!" Meanwhile, an Apple & Pulled Pork Pizza with crispy sage and Nova Scotian apple chutney, a vegetarian medley topped with balsamic and goat's cheese, and a gorgeous vegan mushroom 'za gave healthy competition for the nicest slice!
The event reviews couldn't even contain the love from our yelpers after this brunchtastic morning; Jill M was back for dinner that night, and Adam S went back "the next day. It was even better. Likely because I didn't have to share anything."
